LIFE+

The LIFE+ program is the unique financial instrument of the European Union dedicated, exclusively, to the environment for the 2007-2013 period. Its general aim is to contribute to the application, update and development of the policy and common legislation in the matter of the environment, included the integration of the environment in other policies, with the aim of contributing to the Sustainable development. Particularly, LIFE+ will back up the application of the 6º PMA, including the thematic strategies and will finance measures and projects with European added value on the Member States.

LIFE+ consists of three thematic fields:

- LIFE+ nature and biodiversity

- LIFE+ policy and environmental governance

- LIFE+ information and communication

The LIFE+ instrument is managed by the LIFE unit of the General Direction of Natural Environment of the European Commission, being the National Authority in the Spanish State the Ministry of the natural, rural and marine environment, throughout the general office of services, to whom corresponds the management of the three thematic fields in which LIFE+ is structured.
